Why PR?

We all have quirks, and one of my own, which lends itself to public relations, is my habit of starting projects at the end – at least in thought. You give me a list, and more often than not I’ll go to the end before beginning. I’m always thinking of the broader goal and end point when working on an assignment, and PR is one of those fields that truly allows you to see projects from beginning to end – and to have a hand stirring the pot each step of the way. After working in the legal field for 5 years, I was ready for that challenge.
Areas of Expertise and Interest
Since joining Bliss, I have had the opportunity to work with primarily with accounting and finance related clients in the technology, natural resources, and private equity sectors. Helping clients develop written material for both print and online publications is a favorite aspect of my job, as is building strong relationships with local and national media to promote our clients’ objectives and thought leadership.
What I Did Before BlissPR
I graduated with a B.A. in political science from Rollins College, then made my way back home to Virginia where I began paralegaling for various law firms in Washington, DC. During that time I worked in the fields of insurance litigation, telecommunications regulatory affairs, and collections law. In my spare time, I volunteered with several DC-based charities, which provided me with my first taste of public relations.
What I Do for Fun
As a non-native New Yorker, I’m currently obsessed with exploring the city – both historically and culturally. One of my favorite things about New York is the restaurant scene and, considering myself something of a foodie and oenophile, I’m always looking for the ‘best’ places to eat and learn about new wines. I also enjoy staying active, painting, cooking and reading historical fiction.
