Why PR?

People outside of the communications field don’t always realize how much of what they read, watch or hear in the media is somehow traceable back to PR. I find it extremely rewarding to see the results of our efforts displayed on the front page of a newspaper or in the headlines of the evening news, and knowing that we’ve played a role in shaping the public opinion on those topics. PR allows me to learn something new every day, often directly from some of the top experts in their fields.
Areas of Expertise and Interest
My work at BlissPR touches a variety of industries, including accounting, consulting and insurance. For clients in these industries and others, my favorite part of the job is developing a media relations strategy and implementing it. I have worked on local, national, international and industry-specific PR campaigns for Bliss clients—each with their own challenges and rewards. I’m especially interested in international PR, where my work at Bliss has touched on China and Latin America.
What I Did Before BlissPR
I graduated from NYU in May 2007. While in school I interned at Full Picture Public Relations—an entertainment PR firm. Prior to that, I held a sales and marketing internship at SeamlessWeb, a then-startup which is now the “fastest, easiest and smartest way to order food online.” After college, I spent the summer volunteering in Darjeeling, India, with the global volunteer organization, i-to-i.
What I Do for Fun
I am always looking for adventures and opportunities to learn something new. I love to travel and hope that one day I can truly call myself a world traveler. I am also a member and performer with the Village Light Opera Group and the Blue Hill Troup—two NYC-based community theater troupes. When I’m not traveling, singing or building sets, I spend my free time exploring New York (something that never seems to get old), trying new restaurants, cooking and running.
