Why PR?

My interest in public relations began while I was an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina. I wanted a major that would enable me to use my writing and communications skills, which led me to the School of Journalism where I decided on a concentration in the public relations sequence. Now that I am working in the field, I realize it was the right decision and a perfect match.
Areas of Expertise and Interest
My focus at BlissPR is on media relations, writing and day-to-day account team work for clients primarily in professional services. I’m early in my career as a public relations professional, and therefore am focused on learning as much as possible about the profession and about my clients so that I can effectively work to meet their needs. The interactive and inclusive working environment at BlissPR is perfect for newcomers to the field as it really facilitates the learning process.
What I Did Before BlissPR
Before joining the BlissPR team, I worked as a paralegal in the White Collar Crime group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. While my experience at Skadden was invaluable, it clearly didn’t satiate my desire to pursue a career in public relations. I graduated in 2006 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in public relations and political science. While at UNC, I was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and worked on public relations campaigns for several notable non-profit organizations in North Carolina.
What I Do for Fun
I love reading, shopping, running and all sorts of outdoor activities. I’m a UNC graduate, so clearly I’m obsessed with Tar Heel basketball! I play intramural soccer and played softball for the first—and probably last—time recently. I love exploring New York City and spending time with friends and family. I also have a beautiful niece and nephew who I try to see as often as possible.
