Why PR?

Anjelica Hernandez: Account Executive, BlissPR-B2B Public Relations and B2B Marketing Services

Seeking a career that required creativity, reading, writing and the adaptability to handle a variety of demands and roles led me straight to public relations. It is exceptionally rewarding when, through diligent work, clients gain recognition on a national platform. I feel my tutelage in both journalism and public relations allows me to utilize my writing skills while working on media relations in the business to business public relations realm.

Areas of Expertise and Interest

The majority of my clients are in the economic development, healthcare and professional services areas. I work on leveraging social media for Bliss's B2B clients, depending on their strategic objectives and goals. With a background in print journalism, one of my favorite parts of the job is developing media relations strategies and working to position our clients as thought leaders within their respective fields through print and online media coverage.

What I Did Before BlissPR

I graduated from Texas Tech University with dual bachelors in public relations and journalism and minors in business and English. During college, I was involved in Public Relations Students Society of America, worked as a staff writer, drafted press releases for National Oil & Lube News, and wrote for the school magazine as well as the campus paper. For four years, I worked on campus at the Student Disability Services, brailing for visually impaired students and also helped create a campaign for a local non-profit organization. The several business courses I took at Tech fueled my interest in corporate public relations. After graduation, I believed New York would be the best place to launch my PR career; so I bought a one-way ticket and began working at BlissPR a few weeks later.

What I Do for Fun

I am somewhat of an urban explorer; and often find myself meandering down a street in Manhattan or an outer borough that I have never been to before. As much as I love the thriving city, I also enjoy scuba diving, white water rafting, hiking, kayaking and running. My next contemplation is skydiving. Adhering to a "Carpe Diem" philosophy, I love capturing life moments with my camera, scrapbooking the memories and staying in touch with family and friends.
