Why PR?

A Theatre major at a liberal arts school, I spent the whole of my undergraduate career exploring how different people communicate and experience the world. PR allows me to leverage my creativity and passion for organizing thoughts to build webs of communication among diverse groups. It is fast-paced and dynamic, demanding creative and innovative problem-solving on a daily basis.
Areas of Expertise and Interest
Having started my career in the BioPharmaceutical industry, I still have a strong interest in all things Healthcare. Media training is an exciting area for me as well as it takes me back to my roots in acting and directing—teaching clients how to communicate their message to the media is similar in many ways to helping an actor learn to speak a character’s truth. Most importantly, I love the open and dynamic environment at Bliss that is allowing me to explore all aspects of PR.
What I Did Before BlissPR
I graduated from Davidson College in May 2009 with a major in Theatre and a laundry list of credits in Psychology, Biology and Philosophy. I moved to New York in October of 2009 and worked as an operations and communications consultant for a BioPharmaceutical startup as well as in Executive Recruiting for BioPharmaceuticals before landing at BlissPR.
What I Do for Fun
I spent my childhood in choirs and attended college on a voice scholarship so music has always been a huge part of my life. I play guitar, sing, and write songs; I love exploring the NYC music scene, especially jazz clubs. I am addicted to hot yoga, and, being a mountain girl at heart, get out of the city to go hiking, camping, or kayaking whenever I’m able—bonus points if this takes me back home to North Carolina! I also spend a lot of time attending sporting events: those of my ten year old cousin who lives in the city, and of my brother who plays football for Bucknell. If I’m not flitting around doing one of these activities, you can find me reading or running in Prospect Park or cooking up a meal with delicious organic ingredients from the Park Slope Food Coop.
